PLEASE NOTE: the student applying for this scholarship will be the primary contact for all inquiries related to the scholarship application and any awards. The student's work ethic is an essential criteria considered by our scholarship judges. If the judging committee has reason to believe the application was completed by a parent or anyone other than the student listed on the application, that student’s name may be removed from consideration.
The NGEMC Chairman’s’ Memorial Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship awarded to one high school senior in each of the seven counties served by NGEMC. NGEMC will forego sending delegates to Washington as a part of the Washington Youth Tour in 2023. In place of the tour, an extra $2500 scholarship will be available to High School Seniors living in households served by NGEMC.

The scholarship is a one-time, $2,500 award with funds paid by NGEMC in the form of a check to the accredited college, university, or technical school attended by the recipient. One high school senior from each of the seven counties served by NGEMC will be selected. The recipient must be officially enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school at the time of issuance.

All applicants will receive a decision letter; recipients will be announced in the spring. Certificates will be presented to each recipient during that school’s scheduled awards ceremony, usually in May.

Important note: This application will take approximately one hour to complete. There is no option to save and return to your work, so please plan to finish the entire application in one session. Prepare to finish the entire application by gathering your academic, community service, personal information, name and email address of your guidance counselor (used to request your transcripts), and answers to the essay questions below (limit responses to 500 words each).
It is recommended that you type and save your essay answers in a text document such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs before beginning this document to streamline the application process.
Supporting documentation is due by the close of the application period. Instructions on uploading these documents will be emailed to you after you complete the application.
The above documents must be submitted prior to the Jan. 20, 2023 deadline. To maintain fairness, incomplete applications will not be accepted or reviewed.
